info How to Calculate SGPA?
SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) is an indicator of your performance in a single semester. Follow these steps to calculate it manually:
- List Subjects & Credits: Write down all subjects and their credit units (e.g., Maths - 4 credits).
- Assign Grade Points: Assign the points for each grade (e.g., O=10, A=9) according to your university.
- Multiply: Multiply the grade points by the credits for each subject to get "Weighted Points".
- Sum: Total all Weighted Points and total all Credits.
- Divide: Divide Total Weighted Points by Total Credits to get your SGPA.
Where C is Credits and G is Grade Points of each subject.
SGPA vs CGPA: What's the Difference?
SGPA (Semester GPA)
Reflects your performance for one specific semester. It acts as a snapshot of how you did in a ~6 month period. It is useful for monitoring immediate progress.
CGPA (Cumulative GPA)
Reflects your overall performance across all completed semesters. It is the average of all your SGPAs. Most companies and universities look at your final CGPA for admissions and jobs.
